A trademark, trade mark, or trade-mark is a sign adequate to distinguishing certain goods or services of one company’s product from those of others.
A trademark or service mark can be words, letters, numerals, design, symbols, sign boards of shops, fiscal and official stamps, company name, pictures, form of packaging, protruded engravings, and combination of colours in a specific and distinctive form; as well as any combination thereof that are visually perceptible.
The trademark protection can be obtained via registration, by filing a trade mark application at Trademark Office in the country of your interest and paying the prescribed registration fees.
Each country has its own laws and examination standards concerning trade mark registration. As such, registration a mark in one country does not mean that the mark will be registrable as a trade mark in the other country.
